Meet Our Students: Stories of Resilience and Growth at Logos School Skip To Main Content

Name: Caleb (he/him)
Age: 12
Grade: 7th

Caleb is 12 years old and heading into 7th grade. He’s bright, creative, and full of curiosity—but his school experience hasn’t always reflected that. Caleb struggles with emotional dysregulation, which means his emotional reactions—especially during stressful moments—can be intense and hard to control. A small misunderstanding or a challenging assignment can quickly lead to frustration, tears, or outbursts of anger.

In his previous school, these emotional responses were often misunderstood as defiance or bad behavior. As a result, Caleb frequently felt isolated from classmates and labeled by teachers. He was overwhelmed by the noise and constant transitions of a traditional middle school, and found it nearly impossible to calm down once he became upset. On top of this, experiences with bullying made him feel even more alone and unheard.

That’s why Caleb and his family turned to Logos School. What stood out wasn’t just the smaller classes—it was the school’s emphasis on social-emotional learning, trauma-informed care, and restorative practices. At Logos, Caleb has begun to learn how to recognize his emotional triggers, develop calming strategies, and build stronger relationships with both peers and teachers.

Now, instead of being overwhelmed by school, Caleb is learning how to navigate it with confidence and support. Logos gives him the space and tools to grow—not just as a student, but as a whole person.
