Program Overview

At Logos, where every day is a new day, our goal is to ensure that our students’ academic success and therapeutic growth is strong, allowing them to go on to greater success when they leave us.

Logos School is a private special education school serving students in grades 6–12. At Logos, our structured yet flexible environment gives students who have not found success in traditional classrooms the space, support, and understanding they need to grow academically, emotionally, and socially.

As a trauma-responsive school, we go beyond simply accommodating students—we recognize and address the underlying challenges that impact learning. Our entire staff is trained to meet students where they are, providing consistent support with compassion, structure, and respect. We help students build the emotional resilience and life skills needed for long-term success both in and out of the classroom.

Our 11-month school year is divided into six terms, allowing for credit recovery, individualized attention, and academic momentum. Logos School is fully accredited by ISACS and approved by DESE and ISBE. We offer honors courses, and in 2024, we proudly launched our chapter of the National Honor Society, with 21% of our graduating class earning membership.

Our commitment to excellence is evident in our staffing: with a 3:1 student-to-staff ratio and a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, students receive highly personalized care. Our team includes 13 licensed therapists and 21 expert teachers, 58% of whom hold advanced degrees—ensuring both exceptional academic instruction and targeted therapeutic support.

At Logos, we know every adolescent deserves the chance to fulfill their own hopes and dreams for a successful future.

Our therapeutic program is rooted in a trauma-responsive approach that prioritizes emotional safety, individualized care, and real-time support. Each student receives a minimum of one hour of individual therapy per week with a dedicated therapist, who also maintains consistent communication with families to ensure a collaborative support system. In addition, students participate in two hours of group therapy weekly. Both individual and group sessions are tailored to the student’s unique needs and often focus on key areas such as conflict mediation, crisis intervention, anger management, emotional regulation, and behavior modification—all grounded in trauma-informed practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

At Logos, we believe healing and growth are not limited to therapy and academics. Our trauma-responsive philosophy extends to the full student experience. Students are encouraged to participate in traditional school activities such as volleyball, soccer, and basketball. Social milestones like prom and formal graduation are designed to foster belonging, create lasting memories, and support students’ social-emotional development in a safe, supportive environment.

Leadership development and community engagement are also key to helping students build confidence and purpose. All students complete community service hours and have access to leadership opportunities through student council, event planning committees, mentorship and ambassador programs, clubs, and the National Honor Society. These experiences are structured to help students practice responsibility, communication, and teamwork—skills that support resilience and life beyond Logos.

Our Transition and Testing Coordinator works closely with each student to explore their strengths, interests, and future goals. Career readiness begins with one-on-one conversations, school career days, college visits, and exposure to post-secondary and training programs. These experiences are personalized and trauma-aware, ensuring students are prepared to take their next step—whether that’s higher education, employment, or independent living—with confidence and support.

Providing a safe place for our students to learn is a priority that includes not only physical safety but also a trauma responsive framework that focuses on social-emotional learning.
