Parental Involvement

Parents and families need the tools and skills to support the work their child is doing at Logos.

Our therapists make weekly contact with families to discuss progress, challenges, strategies, and resources they may need. Teachers also maintain regular communication with families, including individual contact at conferences two times per year and ongoing communication for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), behavior intervention meetings, transitional services, and other student-specific concerns. Our proactive approach aims to empower families in their supportive roles, enhancing student success through a strong network of collaboration and information sharing.

Bi-monthly virtual family meetings with the Head of School further support preservation by providing opportunities for open dialogue and collaboration with school leadership. To further communicate with and update families, we send out a parent newsletter each term with school updates, events, and developments.

Parent-Therapist Communication

To best serve our students, our therapists strive to create strong partnerships with parents through weekly contact to discuss the student’s progress, challenges, and strategies to achieve goals. This collaboration with parents creates shared goals for students both at school and at home. Parents are encouraged to contact therapists whenever questions or concerns arise. Communication methods include meetings, phone calls, emails, and text messages.

Parent-Teacher Communication

Parent-teacher conferences, where parents and teachers collaborate to make sure students are achieving their academic goals, are held three times a year. Teachers also contact parents if the student is falling behind in class to help create continuity between school and home. Administrative staff also communicates with parents for IEPs, behavior intervention meetings, transitional services, and student-specific concerns.

Parent-Child Meetings with Therapists

Our therapists can also help facilitate meetings between parents and their child on an as-needed basis. These meetings help engage both parties to offer support needed for the child’s educational and emotional growth.

Family Night

Informal Graduation

We have informal graduations throughout our 11-month school year. Since each student is on their own individualized learning and therapeutic plan, there are students who have met all of the requirements to graduate at the end of any given term. During these events, we invite families to join us and celebrate each student personally, honoring their commitment to their academic and therapeutic growth and achievements.

Parent Night

This night is an opportunity for parents to hear about the new school year directly from our Head of School, Dr. Kathy Fenger. Topics for discussion include the strengths and challenges of Logos and any upcoming plans for the year. Parents are also able to “walk” their student’s schedule and talk with teachers in each class. Therapists are also available to discuss any needs, concerns, or questions they might have as the new year begins.
